James Pittman
Principal Consultant & Coach
James is a applied ecological economist, whole systems designer, professional consultant and impact investor with more than 30 years of experience helping hundreds of business, industry, government, non-profit and community clients achieve extraordinary success amidst rapid change. He is guided by a lifelong core belief that all great accomplishments are done in collaboration, leading him to cultivate a strong global network of colleagues to meet any need for our common future.
Key areas of specialization for James are in decision science for adaptive design of enterprise systems and strategy to support regeneration of real value within and between economic, financial, human, social, environmental domains. He is currently focused on finance, energy, carbon, information and food systems, and has served clients in a wide range of sectors including fintech, private equity, philanthropy, blockchain, manufacturing, agriculture, forestry, communications, land management, healthcare, service eco-tourism, social enterprise and other markets.
James has founded and helped launch many new successful programs and enterprises, most recently as Managing Partner and co-founder of GreenHydrogen.capital creating impact investment funds for breakthrough renewable hydrogen energy tech and supply chain development for global energy transitions, thriving communities, and abundant wealth creation. Beyond serving executive capacities, as an entrepreneur and intrapreneur, he has served as Chair and member of many Boards for corporations, non-profits and trusts.
In prior roles James was a co-founder of Earth Economics, a premiere global consultancy focused on enterprise and landscape management for carbon, biodiversity and ecosystem service value. He also taught for years with many leading global innovation faculty for the world’s first sustainable business MBA program, at Pinchot University, and served as a sustainability consultant or advisor to the US President’s Council on Sustainable Development, a wide range of federal/state/county/local governmental agencies and international NGOs, GRI, SASB, Globescan, SustainAbility and ERM.
