ABOUT YOUR COACH — James Pittman
For the past 35 years I’ve been guided by a mysteriously prescient focused vision of our current transitions times on Earth. This has led me on a lifelong path of nature appreciation, experiential education, intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship, personal and organizational development as well as volunteer service throughout my career. I’ve also been a coachee many times, which helps me to understand the coaching experience from both perspectives.
In past work I’ve served many years as a Board member, manager, consultant, participatory process designer and facilitator, professional coach and mentor, as well as innovation thought leader in decision science, business sustainability, green economics and finance, organizational change management and other areas of speciality. I’ve worked with hundreds of public and private sector clients — ranging from bold biz startups to multinational corporations and nonprofits — and am honored to receive widespread endorsement by hundreds of LinkedIn colleagues.
In educational studies, I’ve trained in interconnected fields ranging from ecopsychology and sustainability development (BA, Prescott College), whole systems design and change management (MA, Antioch University), to applied ecological economics (MSc, University of Edinburgh with distinction). In prior work, I also co-founded Earth Economics, an international consultancy focused on applied ecological economics, taught for many years at Pinchot University, the world’s first MBA program designed around a core of sustainability, and also served as a commission member for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.
For nearly two decades I’ve also studied and worked as a shamanic practitioner through intensive Rites of Passage and rigorous multi-modality training with cultural elders, indigenous healers and nature wisdom teachers from many traditions around the Americas, including two years living deep in the Amazon jungle. This has helped me to make sense of current global transition into the Ecozoic Era, and inspires me on my path of collaboration to create a more harmonious future for humans and others sharing a home in our interconnected world.
